Cats make wonderful pets, but they do reproduce very easily like rabbits. If you have a house full of cats and would like to pass on commercial cat foods that you know have downright gross ingredients, then you can try these home made cat food recipes that don’t scrimp on the nutrition and will definitely keep your cats healthy and robust:
Meat, Innards, and Powdered Vitamins:
You need to buy the following (to be stored and frozen in jars):
- Chicken, pork, turkey, and rabbit meat from your local farmer’s market
- Organic innards: Liver, heart, kidney, spleen and such
- Eggs
- Powdered psyllium husk, kelp, and dulse
- Cat vitamin supplements in powdered form
- Grinder, empty container jars, and spoon.
Preparation:
- Cut up the meat into large chunks and bite-sized squares. Grind the large chunks and store it in the freezer. Bag the bite-sized squares and place this in the fridge as well. You can also include the bones from the meat bit make sure to run it through the grinder.
- Take the innards and grind these up as well. Bag these, and then place these inside the fridge next to the meat.
- Take a bowl of water, crack open about four eggs and take the egg yolks out and place these on the bowl of water. Then, take the cat vitamin supplements and add these to the egg yolks and water. Whisk until everything is dissolved. This is your supplemental mixture.
- Take the meat and the innards from the fridge and add all of these to the supplemental mixture. Stir or blend all ingredients using a spoon.
- When you’re done mixing everything the meat, innards, and supplemental mixture, spoon this into the container jars and freeze. Always remember to label the date when you prepared the food.
- Microwave or thaw when feeding time arrives and make sure your cat consumes this in less than 30 minutes. Throw any unconsumed food out.
Trivia: Organic meat means the livestock or poultry was raised on a farm, was not genetically-altered with hormones and drugs, and was fed with pesticide-free food.
Baked Organic Cat Nibbles
You need to buy the following (to be stored in a zip-lock bag):
- Greased cookie sheet
- Flour (preferably whole wheat and all natural)
- Non-fat powdered milk
- Chicken breast
- Vegetable oil
- Egg
- Water
- Catnip
Preparation:
- When you have all your ingredients ready, pre-heat your oven and set it to 350-degrees.
- Chop the chicken breast.
- In a bowl, combine flour, milk, and the chopped chicken breast. Afterward, add in the oil, catnip, and beaten egg. Take a spoon and start stirring until you see that the mixture is sticky as dough.
- Form small balls from the dough, place each ball on the cookie sheet and flatten it with your spoon.
- Bake each side for 10 minutes until they turn a wonderful golden brown.
- Remove the nibbles from the oven and let these cool before storing these in zip-lock bags.
