The Pembroke Welsh Corgi has been the favorite of Queen Elizabeth for years and years. You are going to want to keep your Corgi’s teeth clean. These should be cleaned and scaled by your vet every six months to once a year. You can brush your Corgi’s teeth in between visits to your vet. Not only will this keep your Corgi’s smile nice and white, it can also help with dog breath when your Corgi is giving you kisses.
Though your Corgi is cute and affectionate, avoid feeding it table scraps. These dogs are a bundle of energy, but are prone to rapid weight gain. Consult with your vet about the proper dog food to purchase and proper feeding habits. You may want to go with a homemade diet, which is perfectly acceptable. Just make sure the diet is full of proteins, fats, fiber, and carbs. You will also want to make sure it has plenty of vitamins and minerals to keep it happy and healthy.
Even with your Corgi’s short legs, you are going to want to give him lots of exercise. They love to run and have a lot of energy to burn off. Walk your pet at least once a day for no less than 30 minutes. You are going to want to take your Corgi to a dog friendly park and give him loads of off-leash play time. Trust me: the more you run this dog, the more he will love you for it.
The Corgi’s coat is soft and medium in length. It does shed twice a year, so you will need to buy plenty of brushes and lint rollers. Bathe your Corgi every two to three months with vet approved shampoo.
